The main coloring ingredient is carthamine
The appearance of Carthamus(Safflower)Yellow is yellow or brown yellow powder. It can easily
dissolve in water and ethanol solution, but not in ether, petroleum ether, oil and acetone.
It is an excellent coloring agent for starch, but slightly coloring for protein.
Ferric ion can make it becomes black. It has good resistance to light and high temperature
Applications and Usage
Carthamus(Safflower)Yellow can be widely used in instant rice & flour products, soda pop,
fruit-flavoured beverages, beverages offruit and vegetable juice (pulp), decorative fruits and vegetables,
frozen drinks (edible ice excluded), candy, topping, preserved fruits ,jelly, canned fruits,
canned vegetables, canned eight precious porridges, imitation wine, fillings for cereal foods,
salted and cured meat products, condiments, puffed food
When use Carthamus Yellow, dissolve the color with a small amount of water first,
and then mix the color solution with food materials.
Usage Reference
For instant rice&flour products,the maximum usage limit is 0.5g/kg
The maximum usage limit for other products is 0.2g/kg
